What’s it like to work with Butch Peterman?
Butch worked closely with Doug and Rebecca as a coach and consultant on leadership development, simplifying business data, organizational structure and employee engagement. Doug was generous enough to answer some questions of ours. Here’s what he had to say:
What prompted you to seek a consultant?
“As a small business owner, there’s only so much expertise one can bring to the table. We sought the help of an consultant to help us along the path to understanding and implementing the strategies that made sense for our business and goals. What immediately impressed us about Butch was that it was ‘people first’ and he had a genuine interest in us and our business.”
How would you describe the way I provided my coaching/consulting service to you (or, the way I helped you achieve a certain result)?
“Butch is versatile and can offer insight on anything from people to finance — the common thread is he has been incredibly sensitive to how we run our business, our company culture, and what motivates us as business owners. The approach often varies depending on the question at hand — whether it’s a more esoteric discussion about in-sourced vs. outsourced manufacturing or a hard and fast analysis of our financials.”
Was there one concept that stuck with you? What were your biggest take-aways?
“The one thing that has stuck with me in the time I’ve been working with Butch, is that what ever the plan or solution — it has to fit the personality of the ‘people’, the leadership and the business. Above all — it must be simple and executable!”
How was your business different after this consulting?
“The biggest change we saw wasn’t in the business, it was in us. Butch’s coaching has helped us more clearly see the path to achieving (and setting) our goals. He’s also been phenomenal in helping us change our mindset. As a small business, we often get so caught up in the day to day — he’s helped us develop the ability to separate ourselves from distractions and focus on the points that matter most.”
Why would you recommend me to someone else?
“I’d recommend Butch as a coach, for his ability to adapt his approach to the business and people he’s working with. His breadth of knowledge — especially in manufacturing — makes him extremely versatile. Many of our conversations with him have given us tools (more so than answers) that we apply to many different situations.”
Is there anything else you’d like to add that I haven’t yet asked about?
“It’s always a pleasure to speak with Butch — he puts his heart into every conversation, and every interaction has turned into a positive learning experience!”
